More Gothics have found each other online than anywhere else. If you are someone who identifies as a Goth, chances are you have felt alienated in some way from the social scene around you. You may have had trouble at school. You may have been bullied, ridiculed, or ignored by some of your peers. Your family may not understand why you dress the way you do and listen to the music you listen to.

All of these experiences can make it harder to get into the dating scene. In fact, you probably don't even want to get into the mainstream dating scene. For a Goth, the idea of going to a mainstream bar or club and trying to meet people while everyone grinds to the latest pop hits is completely unappealing. You may have even tried it, and found nothing but vapid conversation that left you feeling disgusted with the state of humanity.

If you're lucky, perhaps you live in a city, or a larger town, where you are able to meet people who think like you do and who share the same interests as you. But if you live in a small town, or are in some other way isolated from the larger world, it can feel impossible to find love. As a true Goth, you know that the Hot Topic in your local mall is not the place where you are going to meet your soul mate.

You want someone who likes the things you like. Someone who will find your eyeliner and facial piercings irresistibly sexy. Someone you can drive with on a rainy night listening to Bauhaus. If you are into leather or bondage and domination, you want to find someone who shares that passion.

Online dating allows you to put all of your desires and interests on the table immediately, if you choose to do so. You can add a photo of yourself dressed up in all of your dark glory and wait for the responses to come in. Better yet, you can look for specifically Gothic dating sites, where you can comb through the profiles looking for your perfect Gothic prince or princess.

You are not limited to the boring, soulless people around you. There are people all over the world who share your brooding passion, who understand your ennui and your frustration with this meaningless existence.

Dating, in the age of the internet, is much easier for Goths than it was in the 70's and 80's when the subculture emerged. There is no need to feel so isolated and alone. More Gothics have found each other online than you can imagine. Your dark and mysterious lover is out there! It is up to you to go and find them.
