Installing Shingles On A Steep Roof

One needs to follow all the safety precautions while installing shingles on a sloped roof. To ensure the safety of the worker handling the job, all the preventive measures must be kept in mind.
If the gravity of the situation permits you to handle the installation job then go ahead with the motion. Beforehand, consult an expert on the possible ways of avoiding an accident while working on a steep roof. Plenty of roofers use the temporary foot-stops to serve the required purpose. The foot-stops are nailed down into the roof area after every 7 feet. You can rest your heels or toes against such foot-stops to gain a comfortable position on the roof.
Once you have installed the required foot-stops, you can go ahead with the proceedings. If your roof is located at a considerable height from the ground then you can use the roof scaffolding or the roof jacks. Use a pry bar, a crow bar and a shingle axe tool to remove the shingles from the topmost layer first.
Sometimes, the foreign materials and the debris removed from the top portion of the roof accumulate at the foot-stops. Examine the foot-stops regularly during the project to avoid any irregularity. Remove the old layer of tar paper from the roof and throw it in a garbage container place on the ground.
Check the underlying layers of the roof to find out any irregularity or fault. At this point of time, you can move to the attic space of the roof to examine the physical state of the roof trusses and the lumbers. Make way for immediate replacement of the affected unit of roofing architecture. Now, clean the surface of the sloped roof well to sweep off nails and other waste materials from the roof.
Take out the measuring tape from the tool kit and fetch straight lines using the mason line. Keep a roofer at your disposal during this phase of the project as a false move would spoil the development made in the project. Again, start installing the new layer of shingles from the top of the roof. Use long-galvanized roofing nails to secure the shingles to the roof. Nail down 3 shingles on each unit of shingle.
Investigate about the requirements of the safety equipments such as scaffolding, jacks, tree-climbing gears etc. by consulting an expert.
Do not forget to take the suggestion of the expert after each step of the project.
